| Ah yes. I finally decided to beef up my Z and make it a man-Z. =) So here's the plan. You can check profile for mods, but basically Stillen pop charger, test pipes and a catback system is all my performance entails. Right now I'm ready to purchase: - 97 Spec Tranny - Heavy duty clutch - Lightened Flywheel - Rear Main Seal (while I'm in there) - Downpipes (Greg Dupree Split without a doubt) - ECU (soon after.. when more $$ comes about) So I'm 90% sure I'll be going with the 97 spec tranny although Greg Dupree turned that other 10% of my brain to think about a rebuilt tranny. I just always have heard horror stories on rebuilt trannies and turbos so I tend to steer clear of them however I realize Greg Dupree of all people would know what he's talking about. For the flywheel there seems to be overwhelming favor towards the RPS Segmented flywheel from both Greg, Coz, and the Forum's general opinion so I feel safe going with that since I have heard bad things about the Fidanza warping and then most people seem to agree for only $50 more the RPS Segmented is much better than the JWT Aluminum. So now here's where I still have to think: The Clutch. Originally I thought to just stick with the JWT since they're very reputable but after calling Coz he said they've had some problems with the JWT Severe Duty but that the Street duty is a great clutch. My goals for the vehicle are 500-550rwhp in the end so I don't want to have to buy another clutch later if I can avoid it. The Street duty is only rated at 570 hp, but thats a crank horsepower number so it doesn't really line up with my goals, thus forcing me to buy another clutch later. So Coz tossed out the idea of a RPS Max to me but I wasn't really sure about that. Next I called Greg Dupree and spoke with him for a bit about clutches; a main question was why he didn't have JWT clutches listed on his site. He said JWT is made of an organic material which leaves it prone to glazing over since I mentioned i do occassionally like to drag race at the track. Greg recommends the RPS 6-puck Max for me and said the clutch is more streetable than it has been in the past while still holding enough to reach my overall goals. I personally had always heard puck clutches were VERY hard to engauge, they were not easily streetable, and the addition of a new slave cylinder scared me. Greg informed me that the clutch has gotten much better thoughout the years and that now you can stay with the stock slave cylinder and the puck is much easier to drive with. So my question pertains to those of you with the RPS Max clutch either in disc or puck form and why did you choose which and how is it? Thanks a lot and thanks for bearing with me though this long post. =) A special thanks to Coz and Greg for taking the time out to go over the options with me. I'll likely be calling you guys VERY soon.
